How much does it cost?
Coaching modules are normally priced at $250 each. The best value is the Core 5 Bundle for $875 - a 30% discount. Once purchased, you have lifetime access to the module(s), the video(s) and downloads.
How much work is each module?
Frankly, you don’t need to do anything if you choose. But since you’re here…and wanting to make more money, or grow our firm or practice, or make partner, or learn business development as an associate, or all the above, then I’m sure you’ll want to do more. This is your one-time investment in life long capacity building for yourself.
Each module comes with an Outline in the first session, and a Worksheet or Business Plan, or the appropriate download for that module. A download link is on the first page for each session. In the last session you’ll see a download for the Takeaways for that module. There is also a Start Here: How to Learn tab at the top of your Courses page.
Lawyers get the most of out of the coaching when they:
- Read the Start Here page,
- Review the Outline and handouts in advance,
- Make notes on their particular interests and needs for the session,
- Watch the video in a fully immersed mode – pause if needed to take notes or take a break then,
- Review and utilize the Takeaways for each module.
The coaching methodology is based on years of experience coaching and training attorneys and law firms. It is also highly adaptable to your style and strengths.
Can I get CLE credit?
Yes, in many states. Oh that there was one CLE standard for all states! I am working to publish a list of all 50 states and the CLE compliance, or not, for each. Here are two examples: In Arizona they do not pre-approve CLE content and only during an audit by the state bar might they challenge some CLE credit. These courses have all been allowed for CLE credit in Arizona. California does not allow CLE credit for business development or client development. The eligibility standard for many states, and compliance for these courses, usually follows:
- Be taught by an attorney – check!
- Have handouts – check!
- Have progress quizzes and/or knowledge tests – check!
- Supply a recording – check!
- Have content that applies to the practice of law – check!
A certificate of completion for each module comes to you by email.

Can I get one-on-one help with the course(s)?
Yes! The Core 5 Bundle includes a 30-minute live session with me. We can do this by phone or Zoom or in person if you’re in the Phoenix area or I’m in your city doing a training. Let’s make sure to work together as it has the most valuable impact on your business development trajectory.
I also do group and one-on-one sessions with law firms. Typically, a firm will have me come in and work with attorneys to launch their biz dev in a half-day workshop. Afterwards, I help attorneys one-on-one within a few days so we keep momentum.
How long do I have access?
Once purchased you have lifetime access to all materials for your module or bundle.
When can I expect to see results?
Right away! By that I mean, most attorneys and law firms do not train for business development. Remember that only 3% of professional services do. So, the results are obvious right away since you are launching consistent, small improvements and planning three actions in week one. What this question really means is “when will I start to make more money?” Allow me the lawyer answer, “it depends.” Some attorneys experience results very quickly. One attorney I know reached out to a client he hadn’t contacted in a year, scheduled a lunch, and came away with a significant matter! I also share in these courses that a partner worked to implement 12-months of biz dev focused on her two goals of: increased work from existing clients and, an increase of new client referrals from her referral networks. At the end of the year, she brought in $100,000 more revenue directly attributable to our work together, from 50 hours of focused actions. Do the math. That’s a $2,000/hour as a return on her time investment.

Can a law firm use the course(s) for its attorneys?
Yes. This is a great program and platform for a firm to add business development to support their attorneys. Any size law firm can increase their biz dev capacity. And there are options:
- Encourage your attorneys to launch their business development skills with this coaching – and have the attorneys make the investment themselves,
- Do internal messaging to help the firm’s attorneys and have the firm pay for it. Something like: “We are extending a resource for business development training and the firm will pay for the Core 5 Bundle for attorneys who want to build their business. Send copies of completion certificates to the Marketing Department for reimbursement.” Firms that have 5 or more seats only pay $750/lawyer. What a targeted ROI investment of $750! My suggestion? Even if they only complete 1 of the Core 5 you should reimburse them. What they learn in any of these modules is worth a $750 spend.
- I work with the firm and the attorneys in a targeted program. For example, the firm has 5-10 lawyers they want to put through the Core 5 modules. I come to the firm, do a live, in-person, half day kick off with the attorneys. I would also suggest a person or two from marketing and maybe from the comp committee, executive committee, or Board. Let’s get buy-in and understanding at several levels. I then work one-on-one with the attorneys over the next few months – maybe 30 minutes every two weeks with each attorney. Then we have a wrap session at the end (it’s really just the beginning!) and we share the experiences and hone the future.
- Another option is an internal business development platform branded just for the firm. An enterprise version of this coaching platform can be customized just for your firm no matter how many attorneys you want to help build their business development skills. The platform is:
- Branded for your firm,
- All content is found on the platform,
- The attorneys and marketing/biz dev people can track their progress
- I can host live events with your attorneys through the platform, say monthly,
- I can post exclusive videos and content to help your attorney grow their business

Yes. The Core 5 Bundle is filled with actionable strategies to build your book of business, your referral networks, and your clients. The top advice I can give Associates at any level is start now if you haven’t already. Your clients are yours to keep through excellent client care. And since they are and will be your #1 source of new matters and #1 source of new client referrals you can’t start too early. Yes, there are great ideas to help your growth even from day one.
Unfortunately, the law firm model of “congratulations, you made partner, now go develop your own book of business” is so scary. I know! The valid response should be, “why didn’t you tell me this 6-7 years ago!” You should own your own growth actions as of right now.
